Lookvine Interview

Happy to be featured on their latest post, thanks for the shout out LookVine!

What is One fashion rule you never break?
I don’t wear dark chunky heels with light summer dresses.

How would you describe a perfect Fashion look and is there a person who is an inspiration to you for this?
Coat sliding is definitely a perfect, signature look. In my case, it is more of a blazer sliding. Draping a classic cut blazer over my shoulder would be the fashion look that completes my entire outfit. My mother is my greatest source of inspiration for style. Most of the vintage clothing I wear to this day, including blazers, has been handed down to me by my mom.

What interests you in Fashion?
Every time I go into my closet to pick out an outfit, I view the process of creating style as a form of art. As if body is a canvas, whatever you put on that day allows you to create a certain image and express yourself in engaging and impactful ways. I approach fashion as an extension of unique identity and an instrument capable of making you feel confident and empowered. This thought translates into my blog’s slogan “You Are What You Chic.”

What styling advice would you give to your younger self?
Quality over quantity! That is the best advice I could give to my younger self. I now believe that it is more beneficial to keep the quality clothes and get rid of the excess. Having lots of different clothes certainly did not make me happy or help establish my personal style. Instead of spending time and money filling up my closet with disposable items, I choose to focus on few well-made, timeless pieces. A more mindful approach has helped me build my wardrobe and understand what works well for my body type. It gives me balance and freedom to concentrate on the items that can be mixed to create a versatile look.

One tip you would like to give to our readers?
Mix and match modern stylish clothing with vintage pieces. By adding a vintage touch to an outfit, you can include an interesting and unusual twist to your look. Take the time to check out vintage stores. You will be surprised by what you can find at fraction of the cost. Plus, you are helping with recycling by not contributing to a wasteful fast fashion movement.
