Origami Skort

IMG_0079

This Zara skort was such a hit amongst the fashion bloggers. It is such a cute concept, shorts and a skirt? I was curious and excited to put together an outfit, but unfortunately it was a little too weird for my taste. It didn’t really go along with the things I have, besides I just didn’t feel good wearing it. I paired mine with a sheer blouse, and a wedge, perfect for a Sunday brunch.
Overall, I think it can look good, just not on me. I don’t believe it is as flattering as I want it to look and I will not purchase anything along the lines of shorts/skirt again.
Once again, I accessorized and used my scarf by wrapping it around my wrist.

Flirty Fuchsia

IMG_9968

This vintage dress is one of my greatest finds ever. In my previous posts I wrote about the passion I have for unique vintage clothing. Most of the vintage items I own had proven time and time again  their excellent quality and impeccable design, unlike contemporary fashion. You can tell that vintage clothing required more precision and attention to detail (like the button on the sleeve.) The dress truly has stood the test of time as it kept its shape and character. I have accessorized my bag with a scarf I used in the post regarding scarves and ways to accessories them.

Simply Vera

IMG_9917

I wear mostly dresses, especially in the summer time. Besides the comfortable fabric, I like dresses with unique patterns. Although, I place greater importance on the design of the dress, above all else. Vera Wang is known for her wedding dresses, but her Simply Vera line exemplifies an everyday sophistication. She maintains her small, signature detail in every item and offers a fair price point for her collection.

Flower Power

IMG_9835

I always had love for vintage clothing! Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve been stealing clothes from my mom’s closet. The quality as well as shape and design of vintage clothing inspire me to expand my collection along with closet space. More often than not, there is a sophisticated feel to vintage items. Like this flower print dress, one of many dresses I found from a consignment store. Every detail that goes into the making of each garment is precise and authentic. Each seam is carefully hand stitched and as a result, becomes unique in its own way. Unlike the products of today’s fast fashion industry, more love went into older items. I like to incorporate vintage clothing with modern pieces as I did in this shoot. Both the bag and the shoes came from a retail store.

Metallic Accessories

IMG_9762

As an addition to any basic outfit, a scarf is one of my favorite accessories. You can accessories scarves in any way that suits your outfit and occasion, depending on the size and material. I like to wear it on my wrist, wrap it around my bag strap, or even wear it as a hairband. This particular metallic-gray scarf paired well with the metallic belt I have on. In turn, both items complimented the metallic detail of the shoes that I was wearing.

Style Alert: Oversized denim jacket

IMG_9500

My fall/winter wardrobe consists of many oversized items such as oversized sweater, oversized coat and few oversized scarves. This classic Levi’s denim jacket is a valuable addition to my wardrobe. I’m wearing an oversized tee, which serves as a dress. I tried to achieve two different looks by wearing this denim jacket and showing how versatile it is. It doesn’t discriminate against the season or the ever-changing trends. If you are interested in buying one, I suggest you to go check out Levi’s outlets, particularly the men’s section. After all, just like boyfriend jeans, this oversized jacket wasn’t invented for nothing.

My favorite holiday: Naadam

Besides having a big celebration for New Year’s Eve, another holiday we go all out for is a traditional Mongolian festival by the name of Naadam. It is celebrated through out the nation between July 11th and 13th. The main festival takes place in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city and consists of three main events, wrestling, horse racing and archery. All hailed as the three manly sports, which is no surprise since Naadam has an origin that dates back to Chingis Khaan era. Warlords and kings were accustomed to training their warriors while competing in those three sports.
At the festival, Mongolians dress in traditional clothing, handmade to perfection. On this special day, I had the pleasure of wearing my friend’s jacket, made by her grandmother in Mongolia

Go with the flow-y

IMG_9264

One of the main things that attracts me to San Diego is the life style there. Along the beach, there are so many cute little houses, all brightly colored and well kept.  People here have a way of living healthy by growing their own lemons, oranges and avocados right in their gardens, outside their homes. It is a great feeling when you know that you can eat freshly picked fruits and veggies daily.
It is a laid back city so anything cotton is preferred here. Also anything that is flowy, which is why this tie dye dress became my everyday attire. I’m in swimsuits 24/7 here, since you never know when you will end up at the beach. This dress serves several purposes, it is easy to throw on and it works well as a cover-up. I saw this dress on a mannequin and it caught my eye right away. I never quite figured out if this was a short dress or a long top. Either way it looks cute and it can be worn multiple ways.

Casually Chic in old town: Part III

IMG_9081

My final visit to Old Town was magnificent. I got to explore the hacienda hotel located in the heart of Old Town. The view is fantastic and the place has great ambience.
The complex is large, filled with an array of beautiful flowers and stairs adorned with ceramic tiles, which I absolutely love.
Lately, I’ve been wearing lace up sandals and wedges quite often. You can play with the laces, tie them in the front or the back, or even change the lace altogether. This wedge is from Loft, came with a black lace but I changed it to one from Soludos wedge. I use the black lace with my Soludos wedge and vise versa. I had planned on doing a bit of walking on this day, and so this comfortable wedge was an absolute treat for my feet.

Casually Chic in Old Town: Part II

IMG_8977

Old Town is known for their authentic Mexican cuisine restaurants and some of the most amazing margaritas. I made my way here for some Mexican food and shopping.
One of my favorite footwear for the summer is rope soled espadrilles. Espadrilles are from Europe (regions in France and Spain) and were originally worn by farmers. Due to the level of their comfort and their affordable price point, they became the most practical type of footwear. You certainly can’t imagine espadrilles without mentioning the brand Soludos. They have variety of styles including sandals, wedges and a lace-ups.
Inspired by travels, these unique printed and hand stitched shoes are definitely the first item to go in my luggage every time I travel.
If I have to have just one pair of shoes, I would choose it to be Soludos.
